We need a new office!
The LEMAK office experiencing one of its regular floods.
|
Initially when our partner organisation LEMAK was established in 2008, their office was located on the outskirts of Jayapura. This was an area where Papuan families grew their crops. It was well irrigated, but never experienced flooding. Construction in recent years has altered the environment, and now the office experiences severe flooding on a regular basis. Almost every month we receive texts from LEMAK that flood waters have reached the walls of their office and have cut off access to the site.
LEMAK desperately need a safe place to store their equipment. WPDC is looking to fund the purchase of small area of land and the construction of workshop, which can be used as an office and storage facility for the Clean Water Program, as well as a site for LEMAK to undertake fibreglass work. We need to support this purchase without taking funds away from our well projects, so we can continue to bring clean water to those who need it most. |
Any support you can give is greatly appreciated.
